Building One Another

Therefore encourage one another and build one another up, just as you are doing. I Thessalonians 5:11

Your Faith Story is for Sharing!

Dear Friend,

The story of your own walk with the Lord who loves you is one of the easiest and most helpful ways to help others become aware of the same Lord!

Sharing your story may be a simple as mentioning something that happened in your life with words of affirmation such as, “The Lord encouraged me by…” God comforted me with…”  “The Lord who loves me was with me in this situation…“

More profoundly your faith story includes the beginning of your faith journey with Jesus.

If you have no memory of when your trust in Jesus began, then your story involves how you became aware of your trust in God, whenever that was, although you don’t recall the beginnings.

If you know when and how you heard about Jesus in such a way that you were moved to embrace and follow him, then that is part of your own faith beginnings and thus your story.

Looking for casual and conversationally appropriate ways to affirm God’s work in your life or to share your story of coming to faith in Jesus are ways you may encourage the people in your life with the Lord of your life!

Show Notes

  1. How did you come to faith - that is trust - in Jesus? When you were so young that you don't recall the specifics, you just know you did trust him? Or was it when you heard or read something about Jesus and were moved to trust him? Or another way?
  2. Speak your story out loud to an imaginary person and see if you can share it in about three minutes. Your aim is to share your own story in a way that keeps the listeners attention. affirms your own love for the Lord who loves you, and encourages you listener as well.
  3. If you are in a class or group, try getting into groups of two or three to tell your story - its practices so don't worry about perfection!
  4. Be alert to moments with friends and family when you may speak casually and appropriately about the Lord who loves you - and do it!
