Building One Another

Therefore encourage one another and build one another up, just as you are doing. I Thessalonians 5:11

The Pop-in Principle!

Dear Friend,

When we observe the methods of Jesus, we see him regularly popping into peoples’ lives, unannounced and uninvited. He popped in to offer words and presence that brought the kingdom of God into their lives.

As his disciples, we are to live as Jesus lives, so observing him practicing this Pop-in Principle, we also look for ways to pop-in to the lives of people.

Rude? Impolite? Well, perhaps at times, but then when you think about Jesus, he often popped into lives unannounced, uninvited, in ways that may have been perceived as a bit rude, or impolite, yet for the purpose of bringing them the joy of the kingdom of God.

The “people eyes” of Jesus do not see people in order to ignore them, but to pop-in and bless them.

Whether we view ourselves as introvert or extrovert is beside the point if we are to become like Jesus. Each of us, according to our own personality and approach are given many opportunities to pop-in to the lives of people, to offer a good word and or deed and follow up in any way that becomes apparent and appropriate.

Would you appreciate it if somebody put aside their discomfort at the thought of popping into your life in order to encourage you? Of course, you would, so when you think of popping into to someone’s life, be strong, be of good courage, and DO IT! (1 Chr. 28:20)

“Lord, give me the “people eyes” to see people and to have the courage to practice the Pop-in Principle! I trust you to bring joy.”

Show Notes

  1. Think of a time or two when someone popped into your life - by means of a text, email, phone call or visit. How did it encourage you?
  2. When you think about doing the Pop-in Principle, what reservations come to your mind?
  3. If you take Luke 6:40 seriously, that we are to become like Jesus, then are you willing to set a bit of anxiety aside and begin to pop-in to people's lives - texting them, calling, visiting and so on?
  4. Remember - be strong, be of good courage and do it! 1 Chronicles 28:20
