The Jesus Moment

Dear Friend,    

There are “Jesus Moments” in our lives when we become aware of the presence and love of Jesus and are moved to trust him as our Lord.

Two such dramatic moments in scripture involve Peter and Jesus, himself.

The first of them occurs when Jesus asks, “Who do you say that I am?” Peter answers, “You are the Christ, the Son of the living God.” It’s Peter’s “Jesus Moment.”

The second moment occurs when Jesus is in the courtyard of Caiaphas the high priest. Caiaphas puts the question straight to Jesus, “Tell us if you are the Messiah, the Son of God.”

You realize instantly its “show time”, no dress rehearsal, this was Jesus’ own Jesus Moment. This was not a moment to work a miracle or offer some new brilliant teaching. This was Jesus’ moment to confess himself as Lord and Messiah!

When Jesus invites us to confess him as Lord, he asks of us what was asked of him!

It is a Jesus Moment when we confess Jesus as our Lord!

As we move through Palm Sunday and into Holy Week and the joy of Easter, may joy be yours as you affirm Jesus is your Lord, in your own “Jesus Moment!”

What "Jesus Moments" in your life do you recall - moments when you are aware of the presence and love of Jesus and you confess him as your Lord?

If you recall no such moment, THIS moment may be your Jesus Moment! Simply offer yourself to the Lord who loves you. Here is a useful prayer for this:

Lord Jesus, I invite you into my life. I know that you died for my sins on the cross and you give me the gift of forgiveness.

I want to live my life for you. I want to follow you as Lord of my life.

I trust that you will make me into the person you want me to become.

Please fill me with your Holy Spirit so that I may share this faith and love with other people.

I offer this prayer with thanks in Jesus’ name.  Amen
