Therefore encourage one another and build one another up, just as you are doing. I Thessalonians 5:11

See Something – Say Thank You

Dear Friend –

The apostle Paul asks us to think clearly about ourselves, and not to think over-highly of ourselves. We all know it’s also possible to think too poorly of ourselves..

Thinking clearly about others may shape how we  build up one another. Look for ways to encourage others that neither falsely puffs them up if they are down on themselves, nor haughtily pulls them down if they are full of themselves.  

The key is to adapt the common saying, “see something – say something” to your work of encouraging others. When you see something worthy of praise, appreciation, and gratitude, say something!

A wonderful way to affirm someone is the simple thank you – because thank you means you noticed! You saw something and now by saying thank you, you appreciate them for what they did.

Upon both the baptism and transfiguration of Jesus, God the Father said, “This is my beloved son in whom I am well pleased.” God loves Jesus for who Jesus is and appreciates Jesus for what he does.

Tell the people in your life that you love them for who they are and appreciate them for what they do – and you will bring joy to them!

1. When is the last time someone noticed something you did and said, "Thank you." How did you feel? How will you pass that on?
2. How could you be more aware of the small things people do, as well as the large or obviious ones? Will you also thank them for those acts? If you do, it says that you noticed and your very noticing is an encouragement.
3. Just as God the Father loves Jesus for who he is and appreciates him for what he does, you also may love and appreciate Jesus in the same way - and the people in your life as well. If you do - you will bring joy to Jesus and to many others.
