Therefore encourage one another and build one another up, just as you are doing. I Thessalonians 5:11

People are More Important than Programs!

Dear Friend,

Consider the times Jesus turned his attention to someone who interrupted what he was doing.

Such as when the woman came to the well where Jesus was sitting. Or when Nicodemus came to him one evening. Or when he paused to speak to Zacchaeus who was sitting in a tree.

I will never forget the life-changing perspective I received upon hearing Chuck Miller, a mentor in my life, say, “People are more important than programs.”

It’s easy to put our agendas ahead of the people in our lives. The busier the easier to miss the needs of the person right in front of us.

Jesus put people ahead of program. He constantly pivoted from what he was doing to the person right in front of him. See people through the people eyes of Jesus, always pausing to take the second glance.

To make people more important than whatever program, schedule or agenda you are pursing, simply ask God to help you to become aware – to “see” the children, neighbors, co-workers, people in high or low positions and put their needs ahead of your agenda.

Rejoice in the knowledge that Jesus never takes his loving eyes off of you

1. Who are people in your life or whom you may encounter you actually don't "see" in your busyness?
2. What needs to happen in how you approach life for people to genuinely be more important than program - so they are more imn than the activity, schedule or agenda you are pursuing?
3. Can you think of one person you need to pay more attention to in the midst of your activities? What will you do to make them more important?
