Eyes to See and to Expect to See!

Dear Friend –

Are you aware of God’s specific works in your own life and in the church and world around you? Read these brief passages and see what is common to all three.

And when they arrived and gathered the church together, they declared all that God had done with them, and how he had opened a door of faith to the                 Gentiles. Acts 14:27*

When they [Paul and those with him} came to Jerusalem, they were welcomed by the church and the apostles and the elders, and they declared all that                   God had done with them. Acts 15:4*

On the following day Paul went in with us to James, and all the elders were present. After greeting them, he related one by one the things that God had                 done among the Gentiles through his ministry.Acts 21:18-19*

They had eyes to see what God was doing – in great detail – often in the midst of very stressful circumstances

     – and they had the grace to report what they saw God had done in order to encourage the people of God.

The same God is doing remarkable things in your life and all around you, all of the time.

Begin your day with this simple prayer, “Lord, open my eyes that I may see and expect you at work (a modification of Psalm 119:18).

End your day by remembering and rejoicing in what God has done!

Show Notes

  1. What are moments of the last few days in which you were aware of God working in your life?
  2. If you are not aware of such moments, then review your recent days from the perspective of those moments that in some way sustained you, encouraged you, and helped you through whatever you are going through - and know the Lord who loves you is with you, always!
  3. What is a work of God in your life that you will share with someone else in the next day or two? Or right now if you are in a group?
  4. Will you trust God to work in your life to come and thereby "expect" to see God at work? Read Psalm 23 for a word of encouragement for you!
