Building One Another

Therefore encourage one another and build one another up, just as you are doing. I Thessalonians 5:11

Be an Eye-Opener!

Dear Friend,

Eye-opening moments are life-changing moments!

The Lord who loves us loves to open our eyes! “Open my eyes that I may see wonderful things in your law.” Psalm 119:18*

There are many matters in life for which we may appeal to God to have our eyes opened!

Open my eyes, Lord, to see your wonderful works of love, presence, and power in my own life and in the lives of others.

Open my eyes, Lord, to see the downtrodden, the weary and the suffering - those who are harassed and helpless and in need of a shepherd.

Open my eyes, Lord, to see the people you have put into my life whom I am to encourage with the word of faith and the deed of compassion.

Open my eyes, Lord, to see my true motives and the true motives of others.

Open my eyes, Lord, to see the task to which you call me this day.

Open my eyes, Lord, to see what you want to give to me and receive from me now.

Open my eyes, Lord, to see you, O Lord Jesus, by faith, this season of Advent.

When we pray these prayers for “illumination,” we may also pray for illumination for other people. Ask God to open their eyes - not to what you want them to see - but to what our Lord wants them to see.

Show Notes

  1. Recall an eye-opening experience in your own life. What was the insight you received and how did it affect your life?
  2. How may you seek to help other people's eyes be opened - not to what you want them to see - but to what our Lord wants them to see.
