Building One Another®

A Podcast About Encouragement

Be a Mentor (pass the baton)!

Letter

Building One Another

Therefore encourage one another and build one another up, just as you are doing. I Thessalonians 5:11

Be a Mentor (pass the baton)!

Dear Friend,

Think of a person whose intentional influence on your life helped shaped who you are today? A parent? A teacher? A friend? A fellow worker?

A mentor is a person in your life who helps you develop, helps you become the person our Lord wants you to be, by passing the baton of faith and life practices.

Your mentors may be older than you are, but may be your age or younger as well.

You are a mentor in turn as you deliberately invest yourself in the lives of others.

Mentoring is the influence of life on life. As we read in the famous Timothy 2:2, “and what you have heard from me through many witnesses entrust to faithful people who will be able to teach others as well.”

As one of my own mentors, Chuck Miller said, “Discipleship is reproducing in others what the Spirit of God has done in your life and enabling them to pass it to a third generation.”

Be a mentor – pass the baton to others of what God has given to you – and tell your own mentors how much you appreciate them!

Joy to you – Stan

  2. If they are alive, when and how will you thank them?
  3. For whom may you be a mentor? Friends? Children? Co-workers? Name one or two and think through what God has given you that may be an encouragement to them! What will you do about it? When?
